Story is the most powerful tool available to anyone who wants to initiate change in human society.

Welcome...

George Araneo

I produce documentary style video and television programs designed to entertain, enlighten, and inspire. I believe strongly in the power of a well-told story to move people to positive action and change, and would love to connect with like-minded people who see media as an instrument of service.

I first became aware of the power of the moving image while working for 11 years as a television account executive at the ABC and CBS affiliates in Denver, Colorado. Believing that there was a need for programming that was more positive and productive, I embarked on a mid-life course correction to become a producer of programs that engage the audience with positive emotion.

My journey began with courses at the Colorado Film School. While there, I produced two short documentary films, Trash Collectors: The Dignity of all Work, and The Media: Creating Change from Within. In 2000, I moved to Boston to attend the Sawyer School of Management at Suffolk University earning a masters degree in Media and Non-Profit Management.

From 2002 through 2006, I worked as a producer for the award winning public television series Visionaries. The series tells the stories of nonprofit organizations around the world and is hosted by noted actor Sam Waterston. I've produced shows on such diverse subjects as mental health, community reinvestment, developmental disabilities, protecting Alaskan wilderness and higher education in Latin America. The completed shows were broadcast around the country and are used by the profiled organizations for fundraising and other development activities.

My goal is to uncover the emotional essence in each story I tell, capturing what is essential to that story and making sure it gets on the screen. My previous business experience has proven to be very helpful in managing the many elements that lead to a successful project: development, directing the crew, team building, communicating clearly, and bringing projects in on time and within budget.

I am particularly interested in work that serves the social sector and helps to solve the important problems of our time.
